This Man’s Declaration of Love

March 23rd, 2007 by Violet

This actually appeared in the news a few days back… I kept wanting to blog about it but kept forgetting, so here goes…

Hubby declares love with ads

For those of you who are too lazy to click on the link :p this is a story about a businessman who took full page ads with major newspapers in Malaysia to declare his love for his wife on their 35th year anniversary!

Ain’t that so sweet???

When asked by the journalist why he decided to buy ads in the newspapers (Full Page Full Colour ads aren’t cheap), this was his reaction…

Chan admitted that he could have bought jewellery or taken his wife on a shopping spree abroad but he said
giving material goods would not have the same impact.  “When you have a wife who is willing to go through good and bad times with you, you have to give her something out of the ordinary,” said the managing director of Kamco Aluminium Sdn Bhd.

Aww….

To see how his ad looks like, check it out at Angel’s blog. Hi Angel, I hope you don’t mind me linking you! :)

Post Note: Realised that I should not have titled this post ‘How deep is your love?’ Just that when I was writing this post, the song came into my head… and I thought it is a cute title. Everybody has a different way of showing their love, and as long as it is appreciated by the person whom they are showing their love to. :) There’s no superior or inferior way. :)

VioletLim.com | Diary of a Modern-Day Matchmaker

March 20th, 2007 by Violet

Doris passed this tag, I am DorisChua.com - Live Life… Organics & Your Health to me. This is an exclusive tag for those who use their name as their domain. Doris and I have been exchanging memes! Haha! I tagged her, then she tagged me back! :) Anyway, I love this meme, it’s like one of the easiest ones I have ever done! :)

I think I have had my own domain for coming to 2 years now. Why did I get my own domain? Well, thought I better ‘chop’ (Singlish/Manglish way of saying reserve) it before it is gone. Haha! :) So if you have been tagged by me, choose three friends of yours to tag. Remember, only tag those with their name as the domain.

Hooray! Wedding bells, wedding bells, wedding bells!

March 19th, 2007 by Violet

Oh my gosh! My dear friend Wai Kea is getting married! To another of my friend Ee Coln…!

This is just so amazing! Am so happy for both of them…

I can still remember having a conversation with WK when they just started dating… it seemed like just yesterday we had that conversation!

Actually, the three of us are primary schoolmates. Then WK went off to Singapore, and then NZ for her studies.

WK and EC started seeing a lot more of each other when a lot of our primary schoolmates started to get married… so they keep bumping into each other at wedding after wedding… haha!

See, lots of people hook up at weddings! :)

Anyway, am just so so so happy! :)

Wedding Bells for Mr. & Ms. Laidback

March 10th, 2007 by Violet

Two of our members are tying the knot today! :)

Actually, as I am writing this post, they are probably saying their vows. Their respective dating consultants are representing the company to attend the solemnization ceremony.

The couple dropped by earlier this week to convey their thank yous.

Jamie and I met up with them, and we had a good chat. Let’s call them Mr. and Ms. Laidback, soon to be known as Mr. and Mrs. Laidback. :)

As for why I decided to name them Mr. & Ms. Laidback… I actually mean it in a good way, because I feel that they are both very relaxed and friendly, and both quick to warm up to people. :)

So anyway, the story goes like this…

They went on their first date, and Ms. L was very stressed out at work that day. So she broke every first date rule possible. It’s quite funny…

She told me, “You know the list of Do’s and Don’ts you guys send us in your email, I broke every single one of them!”

Basically, she unloaded her stress on him. Oops!

According to Mr. L, he thought Ms. L was definitely quite different from his previous dates! Haha! :)

And if that’s not bad enough, after he gave her his namecard, she forgot to give him hers. So on his side, he thought she’s probably not interested in exchanging details.

You would think that with that, there’s where the story would end right?

Haha! Since you know that they have just tied the knot… the story did not end there. :)

One month later when it was the Lunar New Year period, Ms. L sent out mass SMSes to wish her friends Happy New Year, and… Mr. L was one of the people whom she sent a SMS to.

Mr. L actually replied… “Who are you?” as he does not have her number on his phone!!!

Fortunately, Ms. L took no offence, and they decided to meet up again.

And a few dates later… they decided to be a couple.

And a year later… they are now… Mr. & Mrs L! Amazing isn’t it? It is stories like this that keep my team and I going! :)

So, the moral of the story is…

#1: Things may not always be what they seem. It would seem that Ms. L is not interested in Mr. L on the first date. But, she was probably just too stressed out.

#2: Never burn your bridges. By saving Mr. L’s number on her mobile, Ms. L established contact again when she sent out the mass SMSes. :)

My dear readers, have a great weekend ahead!

And… Mr. Darcy comes up top in “Who is your ideal guy?”

March 8th, 2007 by Violet

“Who is your ideal guy?” That was the last poll that I run.

And surprise, surprise…

Colin Firth in Bridget Jones Diary came up top!

It is quite interesting really, as he was actually an afterthought… I was thinking of who is the last character I should add to the poll, and Mark Darcy was the last character I added.

And actually, it does make sense, a lot of sense actually.

On the physical aspect, Mark Darcy is tall, dark and handsome. Not the Leonardo Dicaprio or Orlando Bloom type of handsome, but a more subtle and brooding presence.

As for character and personality, he is loyal and dependable. He’s always there for Bridget. In the sequel, he went all the way to get Bridget out of jail. He is no sweet talker, and sometimes he can be quite awkward too. But at least that proves that he is no sweet-talker.

As for motivation and drive, he is a lawyer. A very successful one too. And not one of the money-grubbing one. He’s passionate and compassionate.

Come to think of it, he’s definitely a walkaway winner. No wonder a whopping 63% of you voted for him! :)

My poor Forrest Gump… he did not win many votes. Guess even though he is definitely the most loyal of guys, he is just too simple for most girls.

So, my guy readers, as promised… the next poll is for you. Tell us who your ideal girl is!

Who is the 1st Blogger you Met?

March 8th, 2007 by Violet

I have been tagged again! This time by Jo. Haha, it seems that once you get started, it will never stop. :)

Who is the first blogger you met? Hmm, I think the first blogger I met has to be Cindy. I read Cindy’s blog when I was at university. Then, I stopped reading after I left university. When I got back into blogging about 2 years back, I signed up with Rice Bowl Journals, and came across her blog again. We exchanged some comments/emails, and decided to meet up since we both work around Raffles Place. That was quite cool really. :)

Who is the blogger ‘You Most Want to Meet’? Does Oprah, Bill Gates or Donald Trump have a blog? :) These are some of the people I would love to meet. Would like to learn from their experiences in business and life.

Who is the ‘I can meet, want to meet, but somehow never got to meet’ blogger? I am finding this meme increasingly difficult to answer. Not because it is mind-blogging or anything, but it is just something that you never thought of… Hmm, I think the answer to this question probably will be my friends who are also bloggers. Even though we often live in the same city, but sometimes, it is difficult to coordinate schedules to meet up. So we end up finding about each others’ lives through our blogs! :)

Who are the group of bloggers that you most want to meet? Hmm, I don’t think there are any particular group of bloggers that I would like to meet… but would like to meet up with more bloggers from the international arena that blogs on the same genre as me. :) So if you are one, do drop me a line! :)

Do you have any bloggers/blog readers that you would like to meet right now? Yes, all of you fellow bloggers and readers who have been dropping me comments. And if I have to name one person in particular, it would have to be Rudy… thank you for being such an ardent supporter of my blog for the past 2 years… you are amazing! Thank you so much! :)

And now, tagging time… Doris, Cindy & Rudy please! :) Thanks!
