Getting from point A to B

May 20th, 2006 by Violet

I know, I know… I still owe you guys the 2nd installment of ‘My Best Match’. :)

* * * * *
Anyway, I think I need to go for anger management course after driving in KL for the past couple of months.

Some people just do not believe in the concept of queuing. It is like… hello… obviously all the cars are waiting in line for a reason? But no, they just decide to cut queue for their own convenience.

And don’t even get me started on people who just swerve in and out of the left and right lanes just to save that 1-2 seconds of time. It is so dangerous, not just for the driver, but for cars around it. Am not sure if they are just trying to show off their driving skills, or there is something SO important that they are rushing to that they are entitled to put people’s lives in jeopardy.

We live in such a fast paced world. A world where we believe in getting what we want immediately. Or getting to our destination as fast as possible. And most of the time, we do not stop to appreciate the things that are truly important. Or we do not stop to enjoy the process. It is about instant results… all the time. And I think sometimes, we even forget what is the reason we are even doing all these things. We become so mechanical in pursuing the same things everyday.

Finding love, is not purely about meeting that special someone. It is also about discovering yourself, and learning more about who we really are. It is about the process of falling, and picking yourself up again. About experiencing heartaches, and then joy, not necessarily in that order. It is not just about your expectations, your preferences. It is also about living in the present, and know what is realistic, and what is not.

What is the point of getting from point A to B, when you neither enjoy the process, nor know the real purpose of the journey.

Sometimes, isn’t it better to make a detour to C? Yes… it might take a longer time, and the route might be laced with hurdles and obstacles… but the most important thing is, we enjoy the process and learn the true purpose of the entire exercise.

Well said Violet. In a fast paced world of instant gratification, we sometimes forget to just “stop and smell the roses”.

As for stupid drivers, I run into them almost everyday here in Manila. There are times when I just wanted to strangle them…. Dang! now I need to go an anger management course too.

    Absolutely agreed.
Sometimes people just tend to take short cut in order to whatever he/she wanted without think of the consequences and the caused. He/She rather hurts others instead of hurt ownself, that’s very inhumnility and selfish behavior. But What to do?
There will be the one down to earth and decent, just follow steps by steps, as long as finally reach the final destination and achieve the goals.
Life is full of choices, we can chose to love or not to love, Yes or No…etc
Besides plan A & B, always can opt for plan C as well.
    =)

I truly agree that we live in a fast paced and stressful world, people are getting more and more impatient. Look at the number of road bullies we have nowadays. Talking about stress, I was reading the new US version TIME magazine and they reported the troubling high suicide rates amongst teenagers. It is quite scary to find that 1100 teenagers commit suicide a year in the US! Maybe its time to start stress and anger management classes in schools.

    Hello all! :)

    Thanks for your comments…

Rudy - It’s good to know that someone else is sharing my ‘pain’ navigating the traffic! Haha! :) Hey, what’s your email address? I just received this clip on Indian traffic… haha… it makes me feel lots better about what I have to face daily. :)

Jo - Yup, I agree with you 100%… guess these are the choices that we have to make… whether to be reckless and harm people around us, or to be down-to-earth as you have said.

TY - It’s crazy… kids committing suicide. An especially scary thought to be a soon-to-be mummy. :/

    Sincerely,
    Violet
